Why I made PicFrom
Hi, I'm Sergey Pavlishin. I built PicFrom myself.
It started with my wife. She wanted to get her photos out of iCloud, many years of them, and keep them as ordinary files on a drive that belongs to us. She didn't want them locked inside an app or tied to a subscription. I looked for a tool that would simply do that without yet another account and without sending the photos anywhere else. I couldn't find one, so I wrote it for her.
It worked. The originals, Live Photos and videos moved into plain date folders that open in Finder and can be backed up any way you like. Then it occurred to me that she was probably not the only one who wanted to really own years of photos.
That's how a tool I made for home became PicFrom. I keep working on it with the same simple idea: my family's memories should belong to us, and yours should belong to you.
PicFrom runs locally on your Mac. It doesn't ask for your Apple ID or password, and it doesn't send your photos to us or to anyone else.
